About Capital Kids Cricket

Capital Kids Cricket uses cricket, life skill workshops, and mentoring to improve and develop the physical, social, and emotional health and wellbeing of disadvantaged children, young people, and families from deprived areas across London.

To achieve this we work with a wide variety of beneficiaries across a range of settings including work in state schools, pupil referral units, hospital schools, cricket clubs, residentials and trips, holiday camps, and competitions.

🌟 Cricket for Change: Empowering Youth in Lebanon 🌟

Shahidul Alam Ratan, CEO of Capital Kids Cricket, visited Lebanon to strengthen CKC’s partnership with the Alsama Cricket Project. Over four days, he conducted training sessions, met leadership teams, and witnessed the remarkable growth of cricket among nearly 1,000 young refugees. His coaching sessions with boys’ and girls’ teams highlighted significant progress, discipline, and emotional resilience.

The visit included strategic discussions on expanding cricket programmes, strengthening coaching structures, and planning leadership pathways and potential UK tours. A historic gathering brought together 1,000 players and foreign ambassadors, where Mohammed Khair received the “CKC Champion 2025” award. Six young people were also honoured as CKC Young Ambassadors.

Returning to the original ground in Shatila Camp—where the project began in 2018—was deeply emotional. The visit reinforced a long-term commitment to using cricket as a tool for education, empowerment, and hope.

Our Inspiration

At the heart of Capital Kids Cricket is our schools cricket competition — a joyful, inclusive arena where young people discover more than just sport. Every year, children from diverse backgrounds come together with excitement and pride to compete, collaborate, and celebrate cricket. For many participants this is their first taste of the game, but it quickly becomes much more: a place to build confidence, friendships, resilience and leadership. Through spirited matches, supportive coaching, and collective effort, our competition inspires young people to believe in themselves, embrace challenge, and grow together as teams and communities. This is also a mixed gender competition where 4 girls must play in each game. This event reminds us daily why we do what we do — because cricket can change lives and unlock potential far beyond the boundary
