“BATS NOT BLADES”
In response to the devastating affects of knife crime in London, we are using this year’s MWGT theme “bats not blades” to build on last year’s theme (“teams not gangs”) to encourage boys and girls to make positive life choice and support each other on and off the field.
Shahidul Alam, CKC’s CEO, said ‘Many children and their families are increasingly worried about knife crimes and teenage victims.
‘We want to use sports, particularly cricket, as a vehicle to tackle this issue. As a non-contact, individual sport, operating under a team umbrella, young people will work with one another for their own success. The Cricket Bat can be more powerful than the blade of a knife in this way and create real leaders.’
