William Greaves Trophy 2022-23

The 15th edition of the UK’s largest indoor primary school cricket competition, the William Greaves Trophy, came to a thrilling end yesterday as Latchmere Primary stormed to victory at the Home of Cricket, Lord’s.

Having lost the toss and been put into bat by fellow first time finalists, Rokesly Primary (Haringey), Latchmere got off to a steady start, despite losing an early wicket (Amber, run out for 6), with Ethan retiring on 15 and leading the team to a competitive total that left Rokesly needing 70 to win.

While a very getable score, a brilliant all round bowling performance from Latchmere made run scoring very difficult for the Rokesly batters and in the end it proved too much as the team from the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames claimed their first ever William Greaves Trophy title.

Congratulations Latchmere and thank you to all the schools who took part this year!

After 18 borough rounds, contested by over 150 state schools across London, the finals day featured schools from Westminster (Pimlico Primary), Ealing (Little Ealing Primary), Waltham Forest (Greenleaf Primary), Newham (Elmhurst Primary), Royal Borough of Kington upon Thames (Latchmere Primary), Hackney (Shacklewell Primary), Islington (St Joan of Ark Primary), and Haringey (Rokesley Primary).

Following a competitive group stage that featured Elmhurst Primary missing out by the barest of net run rate margins (0.38), the semi-finals were contested by Latchmere, Rokesly, St Joan of Ark and Little Ealing, last year’s winners.

We would like to say a big thank you to all the Mayors, teachers, parents and children who attended the finals day and competitions throughout the year – thank you for your support!
