Capital Kids Cricket (“CKC”) is a renowned cricket development charity and has been running its programme for 33 years. The programmes include delivering cricket in schools, communities, universities, club development, special needs, hospitals, and running competitions from schools, community events and some key competition including adults. About 9,000 young people and adults were involved in 2021-22 year within CKC projects.
A fantastic opportunity has become available to take up an internship as Development Cricket Coach with funding from the Jack Petchey Foundation, as part of the Jack Petchey Internship Programme.

Main duties:
- The Development Cricket Coach will be responsible for initially assisting and eventually running cricket coaching sessions (when qualified) across a variety of locations and settings across London. These locations include schools, junior cricket clubs, and other community settings.
- The Development Cricket Coach will be responsible for assisting delivering high quality cricket sessions, taking and maintaining an attendance register, promoting sessions, and assisting in the measurement of their impact.
- Attend all events and meetings part of Jack Petchey internship programme and trainings (see details below)
The intern will also be involved in: - Assist planning and development of projects, setting up and running competitions
- Managing youth cricket teams at clubs and assisting and running life skill workshops designed to improve key skills of participants.
- Assist event days branding, promotion, marketing
Event days supports to coordinate with staffs, prepare paperwork’s - Competitions day uploading scores, results, press release
Other duties:
- Supporting in club coaching in Newham, Waltham Forest, Tower Hamlets
- Managing teams running games when necessary, some games will be during evenings and weekends
- Assisting running school coaching across London where CKC operates.
- Assisting running games as umpire and lead when necessary
- Assist running holiday camp
- Attending courses for personal development
- Carry out other duties and responsibilities of a similar nature to those described above, in keeping with the developments of CKC.
The Person:
The successful candidate will have the following skills / qualities:
- Supporting in club coaching in Newham, Waltham Forest, Tower Hamlets
- Managing teams running games when necessary, some games will be during evenings and weekends
- Assisting running school coaching across London where CKC operates.
- Assisting running games as umpire and lead when necessary
- Assist running holiday camp
- Attending courses for personal development
- Carry out other duties and responsibilities of a similar nature to those described above, in keeping with the developments of CKC.
Essential:
- Excellent communication skills to a variety of customer groups
- Experience of playing cricket
- A love of cricket and an interest in teaching or working with young people
- Ability to work under pressure
- Ability to prioritise workload well and be proactive
- Ability of writing report about events, news stories
- Microsoft Office, excel, outlook, drop box and other SharePoint
- Good communication skills
- Right to work in the UK
Desirable:
- Worked in a similar sporting or events-driven environment
- ECB Cricket Level 2 qualification or equivalent
- Experience in coaching and/or playing
- Skilled to deliver excellent structured coaching sessions where all children are learning, developing, being stretched, challenged and having fun.
- Ability to do short video for social media and reporting.
- UK Driving licence
- Enhance DBS checked under any organisation (Please note, we are operating a “safer recruitment” policy and therefore we will take at least two references before employees start, and all employees will need to undergo an enhanced ECB DBS check).

About the Jack Petchey Internship Programme:
The Development Cricket Coach (Internship) role is a twelve-month paid Internship to begin during March 2023, supported by the Jack Petchey Foundation. You must be ready take up the post by 27 March 2023.
As part of this role, you will be part of the Jack Petchey Internship Programme with 30 other interns from different youth organisations in London and Essex. This development programme will involve you attending a launch conference, four professional development workshops through the year and a celebration event at the end of the programme. You will receive an extra training bursary of £1,000 for approved training. You will also be matched with a mentor from another organisation to support you in your professional development. The Jack Petchey Internship Programme training and events will take place in person in London, and you will be expected to take full part in this programme alongside your role at Circle Community.
Contract:
12 months contract with possibility of an extension depending on funding.
Hours:
37.5 hours. This may include late evening and weekends.
Location:
Mainly across East London but occasionally other locations where CKC operates.

£23,000
